There are a lot of ugly things to see in Mexico City; the pollution, the traffic, the constant sound of horns. But, when you choose to look only at the beautiful it becomes so apparent and easy to see. The ugly things fade into the background.
This is our view everyday when we get home from work. We pack the kids into the double stroller and go for our family walk. We pass potholes and telephone wires, but we also walk under a cloud filled sky. We pass a large flower stand with blooms in tons of vibrant colors.
This is our routine. It is something we do everyday, and it's beautiful. How easy is it for the beauty to become the forground when that's what you focus on. The rest is just the background.
I've been following Emily Freeman's blog, Chatting at the Sky for a while now. She is doing a series called Made for This: 31 Days of Living Art. The basic message she is trying to get across is that we are art, all of us. This life, it is art; our routines, our daily interactions with our little ones, the work we do each day. It is the most important art we can create.
