31 Days: Resting in the Uneasy

Sunday, October 6, 2013

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ  Jesus.”

Philipians 4: 6-7

My anxieties often take up too much room in my heart. They bring worry and uneasiness. Sometimes they bring anger or frustration.

And yet I am reminded to be anxious in nothing. This seems beyond my understanding.

And yet I am told, there is a peace that surpasses my own small understanding.

This is a peace that gives rest.

Rest in the anxious moments, days, months.

Rest in the too busy schedule, the exhausting work day, the crying child, the difficult relationship.

Today I am praying for rest in the uneasy.
